Ahr, only four remained intact, Peter
Kriechel, chairman of the Ahrwein association, told Deutschlandfunk radio, all the others were damaged. Ten to 20 wineries have been completely destroyed, many winegrowers have lost everything.
According to information from the ministry, the flood disaster destroyed almost ten percent of the vineyard area in the wine-growing region, especially in the locations near the river. On about 50 hectares, all the vines had fallen victim to the water masses

The "flood wine" relief campaign for wineries and restaurants in the disaster area on the
Ahr river has raised more than three million euros by Friday, 7 August 2021. This was announced by the organisers. During the campaign, a total of 300,000 bottles of
Ahr wine from flooded cellars will be offered for sale. Each bottle, no matter what quality level, is numbered. The winegrowers have deliberately not cleaned them beforehand, because this way each bottle is unique.
The campaign is an initiative of the
Ahr restaurateur "Klebers Küche & Garten" in cooperation with Ahrwein e.V. and the specially founded non-profit association "Ahr - A wineregion needs Help for Rebuilding e.V."
