2011 Tenuta delle Terre Nere Etna Rosso
Very young rascal but promising for the future.
Decanted for 4 hrs, not quite enough.
Intense, yet light red color. Nose is young and tight, but still sporting beautiful (little old) roses, some darkness and wet lava rock.
M+++ acids that pierce the fruit and creates a currently thin mid-palate. M+ tannin are hiding behind the fruit, making the wine seem unnecessarily watery and non-oomphy. The elderly woman's roses come in well on the palate that also sports minerality in a less than expected amount. Structurally close to a Syrah-based Côtes-du-Rhône.
Too early for our tastes. Will go well with vinaigrettes and tomato-things.
Two btls left, next one in 2016.
Wife agrees on score but did not like it for the piercing acids and not enough concentration.
At French restaurant Le Message (Gumyouji, Yokohama).
