2007 Juan Francisco Solis Reserva (Valdepeñas), 84p
Almost 'very good'.
Elegant with moderate intensity and M++ acids over small tannins. Scoring well on structure but very low on complexity. A good, simple wine that at the right price will do well as a quaffer.
Wife: 'Too acidic'

NV Gonzalez-Byass Pedro Ximénez Viejo Noé (30 Años), 90p
What a wine! An almost black syrup. This is fortified caramel in a btl
Caramel and molasses with mineral components. Raisins, figs, leather, Darjeeling tea and small herbal component. Insanely intense sugars and would probably benefit greatly from another 100 years of rest. Still primary and lacking in complexity.
For my taste: could have used some more acids (and age).
Wife: over the sugar-top for her.
