Jag gjorde en liten jämförelse med senaste flaskan rött jag köpte härom dagen,
2013 Jim Barry Lodge Hill Shiraz:
First night!
Appearance: Clear, deep intensity purple colour. Thin legs forming curtains, no deposits.
Nose: Clean, medium (-) intensity aromas of green pepper, chocolate, blackberries, dry oak, slight perfume of flowers, smoked meat. Wine is youthful and a bit tight on the nose.
Palate: Wine is dry, with medium (+) acidity, medium (+) tannins, medium (+) alcohol and a medium body. Medium intensity flavours of smoked meat, oak, chocolate, blackberries, jammy cassis, hints of stony minerals, pepper. Finish is medium, expect it to be more open with some time in glass.
Conclusion: Wine of very good quality, mid-priced at 169 SEK. Can drink now, but has potential for ageing. A couple of years in the cellar would do it good!
Second night!
Appearance: Clear, deep intensity purple colour. Thin legs forming curtains, no deposits.
Nose: Clean, medium intensity aromas of blackberries, dark plum, dark chocolate, lilacs, chalky wet stone, oak and a lingering smoky, meaty note. A lot more prominent today!
Palate: Wine is dry, with medium (+) acidity, medium (+) tannins, medium (+) alcohol and with a medium body. Medium intensity flavours of blackberries, wet stone, smoked meat, chocolate, the slightly bitter-sweet taste of lilacs, oak. Tannins are still a bit dry. Finish is medium (+).
Conclusion: Wine of very good quality, mid-priced. Can drink now, but has potential for ageing. A lot better tonight, more open and a lovely wine on it’s own, but I suspect it would do even better with some red meat on the plate!
89p!
Roligt att jämföra och första vinet av lite bättre kvalitet på en hel vecka (ja, jag tycker lite synd om mig själv
).
